in the enclosed statement, to which sum interest at the rate of six per cent per annum and the usual addition of ten per cent on the valuation will have to be added. These additional charges I estimate will amount to about $10,500 for interest and 85,000 being ten per cent on a valuation of $50,000. To be on the safe side I would ask for your authority by telegraph to provide a sum of $75,000 for the purpose of the resumption in the Estimates for next year. So far as I am able to judge

the state of the Colony's finances will admit of this expendi-
